St. Peters Episcopal Church, choir room 5:30-7pm –   

Musical introductions: Bring your instrument and share your sound. Be heard and witnessed as we introduce ourselves musically.

Brain jamming: a volunteer will be hooked up to Biofeedback equipment programmed to a Native flute sound. Their brain will determine whether the pitch goes up or down, which will create a melody. Participants will jam with the Native flute brain melody. 

 Melodic world instruments: You will have the opportunity to play/ or play with a collection of  instruments which are in harmony with themselves. A Kotamo is a hybrid instrument which combines the Japanese Koto, Indian Tambura and monochord.  The Kantales is a heartfelt stringed instrument from Finland. The Swarmadal Tambura is a combination of an Indian harp and drone. They sound great with  flute, voice, guitar and percussion.

Saturday August 29:  10:00am – 5:00pm St. Peters Episcopal Church, 121 Church st. Phoenixville, PA: Park in the parking lot to the left of the church, or on Church or Starr St. Walk in front of the main church to the long sidewalk toward the door at the end. Walk in, we are in the door on the right.

The Jam Haven Program

 JamHaven is centered on techniques that any musician can use to improvise and “jam” with other musicians. These simple techniques let participants jam and perform successfully in any setting, with a minimum of detailed preparation.                                            

  • Twelve-bar blues
  • Playing with a singer
  • Traveling duets and trios
  • Solo / Ostinato
  • Rounds
  • Shadowing and Contrast
  • Singing Circle
  • Dynamics / textures
  • Imitation/variation
  • 2- chord vamp

After a day of playing in solo, duets, quartets and whole group activities, we will take it on the road.

Saturday night  Low key open mic performance at Molly Maguires Irish Pub  157 Bridge St. Phoenixville, PA.  5:30 dinner 6:30-8pm  open mic/Cheers!

 

Sunday: 10am-12pm-   We invite you to the home of Eric and Lynn Miller, 851 Maple Ave, Phoenixville, PA.   Some of the activities in our outdoor gathering may include:

Playing in Nature: Bring a portable instrument such as your voice, shaker or flute. There will be several frame drums available (hand-painted by Lynn). 

Flute circle: improv structures and grooves

Singing Circle:  Vocal groove jamIf it rains we will gather under a canopy tent
